Email is replacing post as the main way we communicate sensitive or private information.
But free email accounts are free for a reason. With free email, your data is not your data. You pass ownership and exploitation rights to your free email provider.
Free email is also the main entry point for phishing attacks and other hacks. Even if you manage your security settings properly, there is no guarantee that your contacts are doing the same, putting you at constant risk of fraud.
There is a simple solution - use StayPrivate for sending and receiving important, personal or sensitive information.
StayPrivate is the company behind the StayPrivate app. StayPrivate is a leading provider of secure communications solutions to businesses.
StayPrivate's secure business communication solutions are used by thousands of companies across a wide range of sectors. To find out more, click here.
We created the StayPrivate app so that everyone can have their own safe place online where they can communicate and keep personal information private.
We support a wide range of charities, societies and clubs. To find out how we might be able to help you, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Download the StayPrivate app and sign up using your current email address. You can also sign up from a web browser by following one of the links on this page.
To send a private email, simply go to the StayPrivate app (or use the web version) and compose an email just as you would normally, using the recipients' normal email addresses and including any attachments. Then hit 'Send'.
It is that simple. We do the rest.
You will receive email notifications of replies in your existing email account. Either click on the link or open the app to access your private replies.
With StayPrivate, you own your data. It is yours and yours only. You can access your data from any device and do with it what you want. We are here to look after your data for you, providing you with a safe place online. No data mining. No adverts. No proprietary lock-ins. No small print.
Point-to-point encrytion with dynamically generated keys ensures that, unlike end-to-end encryption, your data is protected even if you lose your password or PIN. We use AES256 encryption throughout and the best available asymmetrical encryption algorithms for key exchange (TLS/SSL).
We operate a strict email whitelist. All new email accounts and domains are subject to tight volume limits until they have been actively verified by our security team, preventing phishing campaigns and eliminating spam. Emails originating from new contacts are marked and each email is organized into a distinct channel based the identities of the sender and recipients, making it easy to keep track and spot scams.
Data and access events are tracked and stored transparently in your account history. We enforce multi-factor authentication for all users, protecting you and your contacts.
We only store data in privacy-friendly, legally robust jurisdictions (currently this is the UK and the EU). We do not allow mass surveillance and there are no back doors. Nevertheless, we do abide by the law and will comply with legimate data access requests from law enforcement agencies in countries where the user has citizenship or is located.
We use Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure but AWS has no access to your data. All data is encrypted at all times and AWS has no access to any keys or any of the dynamic key generation processes.
And if you do want to take your data out of StayPrivate, that is fine. You can download your entire data history and delete your entire account at any time. Also, for your further protection, such requests are subject to a 72-hour quarantine period.
Most online crimes involve either an email account being hacked or a phishing email fooling a victim into divulging sensitive information. StayPrivate offers several extra layers of phishing and email hacking protection over and above what a normal (or encrypted) email account can offer:
StayPrivate ensures that emails stays safe before, during and after they are sent. Any emails sent to non-corporate email accounts are kept secure after delivery within the StayPrivate environment, protected by multi-factor authentication and device recognition. Crucially, these security features apply to both the sender and recipient.
Users are immediately alerted of suspicious log-in attempts. All user log-in history (including device ID and IP address) is recorded and visible within the StayPrivate environment. Moreover, all user activity such as emails and file downloads is transparently tracked and indelibly recorded in the user activity history.
StayPrivate operates an active whitelist directory. All new email accounts and domains are subject to tight volume limits until they have been actively verified by one of our security team, preventing phishing campaigns and eliminating spam.
All emails are organised into private channels, containing a transparent history of all emails, files shared, deleted and any other activity. Any incoming phishing email from a new email address (typically phishers choose an email address similar to the contect) is marked as new and creates an entirely new channel with a new name and no history, standing entirely separate from the previous conversation.
StayPrivate handles emails differently depending on whether the recipient email address is corporate (for example, email@example.com) or personal (for example, firstname.lastname@example.org).
Emails to corporate email addresses are delivered directly to the corporate email server using TLS (transport layer security) to ensure that the email is encrypted in transit. It is then the responsibiltiy of the company receiving your email to ensure the privacy of your email after it has arrived on their server. Replies are handled in a similar way.
For personal email addresses, we ensure that the email remains private by keeping it secure within the StayPrivate environment. Instead of sending the original email, we send an email notification containing a smart link, enabling the recipient to easily access the email (and any attachments) and to reply privately.
All links and accounts are protected by a 4-digit PIN. Importantly, this is a PIN set by the user. There is no need for any users or recipients to remember anything else.
Your StayPrivate email address is your private email address for receiving information you do not want to share with your free email provider.
Share it with your school, doctor, financial adviser and others, whomever you may need to exchange important information.
